Body Positivity for Moms Just in Time for Summer

Summertime and body positivity are ideas that didn’t go together well for me as a first-time mom, and it’s also something I continued to struggle with for a long time. If you have every struggled with this, you’re not alone.

Summertime and Body Positivity

I remember when I was younger I couldn’t wait for it to be summertime. However, after I had my baby, I started to dread summertime. Well, to be clear I started to dread my summertime body.

It took me a very long time to embrace my body again, and I know many mamas who have struggled with this too. So I want to share with you my story and some body positivity quotes that have helped me along the way.

Body Positivity Quotes for Moms Just in Time for SummerSummertime Changed After I Had My Baby

Whenever I tried on clothes for summer after my baby was born, I used to get flashbacks of what my ex-husband said after I had an emergency c-section.

He said to the nurse, “Is her stomach gonna stay like that?” with a look of disgust on his face. After that, I felt ashamed of my body. I wondered who else would think that? For long after, I continued to judge myself, my scar, and my stretch marks.

What Really Counts This Summer

Now that summer is here again, I’m taking ownership of my part in tearing myself down, and I’m learning to embrace my body.

This summer and forevermore, I want to be kinder to myself and practice self-love. I’m going to create more happy memories with my daughter because that’s what really counts.

Body Positivity

Body Positivity is important because our children look up to us. We have to set the tone and be kind to ourselves and our children. They are watching us and repeating everything we say and do.

Here are some more body positivity quotes below that have also encouraged and helped me as a mom.
