Moving Guide: Far East El Paso

0

If you’re looking for a family-friendly and convenient location to live in El Paso, look no further than the Far East. We have found this area to have a very community-oriented atmosphere. Neighbors watch out for one another, making us feel safe and welcomed,  which is so important when you’re new to the area!

General Neighborhood Info

Whether you’re looking for a spacious family home or an apartment, the Far East offers a range of housing options for different budgets. The median sale price is around $245,000 but you will find a mix of prices in this growing area.

With close proximity to expressways, commute times are reasonable when living in the Far East. Downtown El Paso and Fort Bliss are just a quick 15-20 minute drive.

Parks, Recreation, and Family Fun

Far East El Paso offers quick access to plenty of family-friendly restaurant choices. When it comes to shopping, everything you need is around the corner–Target, Walmart, Albertsons, Ulta, Best Buy, and more!

As a mom of a toddler boy, access to parks was high on my list when looking for a place to live in El Paso. The Far East does not disappoint. The Eastside Sports Complex has multiple baseball and soccer fields, a skate park, and a playground. Some other great parks include Emerald Springs, Desert Wind, Glen Cove, and Pebble Hills. There are also many pocket parks right in the neighborhoods to enjoy!

Moving Guide: Far East El PasoThe Beast Eastside Regional Recreation Center is another great family-friendly place to hang out. It offers basketball courts, billiards, classrooms, a dance studio, a gym with an indoor track, pickleball courts, a swimming pool, and volleyball courts! The Downtown Art and Farmers Market is also currently operating out of The Beast on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (it may eventually move back downtown, but even then it’s worth the drive!).

Hospitals

The Hospital of Providence East Campus is close by, as well as many free-standing urgent cares and ERs.

Schools

The Far East is part of the Socorro Independent School District (SISD). There are many great schools and you can find ratings here. If you are looking for a private school, check out this Guide to El Paso Area Private Schools

Potential Drawbacks

There are not many drawbacks to living in the Far East. It is highly populated, so you may find traffic to be a little heavy during peak times.

Why I Love Living Here

We were unfamiliar with El Paso when we moved here and ultimately landed on the Far East for its easy commute to Fort Bliss and other parts of town. The neighborhoods are filled with families and parks, which made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived.
