It is time to normalize that as moms we don’t have it together. There will be occasions in which we will find ourselves in a hard situation in which we need more help than just a bit of advice. Whether it’s food, funds, formula, diapers, clothing, rides, etc. there are various local organizations that can help.
Below is a list of local organizations and places where you can request assistance in times of need.
1. El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank
They provide food distribution for all people in need. They collaborate with various food pantries across town to hold distribution times and dates for those who can’t go to the main location. You may visit their website or Facebook page for up-to-date information and a distribution calendar.
2. HerPantry
This program helps with the distribution of children’s diapers, formula, and period supplies for women. They have distribution on a first-come, first-serve bases once a month each month. You may visit their Facebook, Instagram, or website for up-to-date information and a distribution calendar.
3. Mustard Seed Café
This café serves lunch every day for those in need. The organization runs with no menu or prices set. If you can pay for your meal, you can pay whatever amount you can afford. If you are hungry and don’t have any money for a meal, they will still welcome you with open arms and warm meals on their tables. 4. Reach and Relieve Ministries

5. Westside Pregnancy Center
This center offers pregnancy support and resources from testing, ultrasounds, and counseling. In addition, they offer groups, CPR training, emergency babysitting, assistance with Texas benefits applications, ESL/GED and computer classes, and much more. 6. Centro San Vicente
This center is a non-profit organization that provides health care and services for a reduced cost to their patients based on their needs. Patients with commercial health insurance, Medicaid, CHIP, or Medicare, as well as patients who don’t have insurance, can apply for a discount program. 7. General Assistance – El Paso County Community Services Department
This program is by El Paso County. They can help in emergency situations such as loss of income due to COVID within the last 90 days. The assistance can go towards rent, utilities, food baskets, and burial programs. This program is run by available funds in the county. 8. Operation Homefront
This organization does not have a local address. However, this organization is a national non-profit organization that is built to help military families that are struggling in various ways. They help with short-term financial assistance to cover utilities, rent/mortgage, etc. as well as family support such as meals and toys outreach and school supply drives among others. 9. Project Bravo
*Various locations in Central, Westside, Northeast, Eastside, Ysleta, and Lower Valley. This organization has applications open for bill assistance, patient assistance, housing, and weatherization. Applications open various times a year and it is based on first-come, first-served bases due to the availability of funds. 10. Amistad
This organization helps individuals with many different things. They help with utilities, housing, transportation, veteran support, etc. Some people may be eligible for more services than others. Local churches and schools are also great resources for assistance. While they may not have immediate funding or assistance, they do tend to have knowledge of other organizations and locations that can provide support.
