Iluminando Las Montañas

“Iluminando Las Montañas” is a celebration centered on bringing the community of Las Cruces together in recognition of the holiday season and the public lands we call home. The practice of lighting homes, paths, and places of importance with luminarias is a deeply-rooted tradition in New Mexico dating back more than 300 years ago. They bring light to the darkest time of the year, while also drawing communities together in unity and celebration.

This event is free and open to the public. Enjoy family-friendly luminaria craft making throughout the evening, materials will be provided. The celebration will also have a conservation themed lotería games – winners will receive prizes! We’ll light up the juniper tree in the Dripping Springs Visitor Center to ring in the holidays, and of course there will be plenty of food and drinks to keep us warm.
