The holidays are all about spending time with loved ones, and what better way to spread the festive cheer than with some Christmas party games?

Whether you’re hosting a gathering for kids, adults, or a mix of both, these games will keep everyone entertained, engaged, and in the holiday spirit.

Classic Games with a Holiday Twist

1. Christmas Charades or Pictionary

Write down Christmas-related phrases, such as movie titles, songs, or festive activities, and have players act them out (in Charades) or draw them (in Pictionary) while others make guesses.

It’s a great way to get everyone involved and laughing, and you can adjust the difficulty based on the players’ ages and abilities.

2. Christmas Lotería

This game is a beloved favorite in my household!

Create lotería cards with Christmas-themed images. Use Hershey’s Kisses or candy canes as markers. The first person to complete their card and shout “Lotería!” wins a prize.

One of the things I truly love about this game is the beautiful bicultural element it brings to our table. Introducing my children to this cherished Mexican game has been such a rewarding experience; I love seeing how much they enjoy it and how they’ve gladly embraced it.

This year, I’m eyeing this gorgeous El Paso-themed set to add to our collection.

3. Pin the Nose on Rudolph

This is a Christmas version of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” Blindfolded players try to pin a red nose (or sticker) onto a large poster of Rudolph. It’s simple, silly, and fun for kids and adults alike!

For a Christ-centered twist, you can pin the star on the manger instead.

Active and Energetic Games

4. Snowball Toss

Set up a series of buckets at various distances to create a fun winter challenge. Players toss “snowballs” made from white socks into the containers. Each bucket is assigned a different point value, and the player with the most points after several rounds wins.

5. Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Divide players into teams. Each team is given a set of snowman parts (balls or balloons, carrot noses, buttons, scarves, and hats). Teams must race to build a snowman on the other side of the room, but each player can only add one part at a time by running back and forth to the snowman-building area.

This relay-style game is fast-paced, gets everyone moving, and is a blast for players of all ages.

6. Gift Wrap Relay

Split the group into teams, and give each team a small box, wrapping paper, and tape (no scissors!). The race is on to wrap the box neatly and quickly—but here’s the catch: each team member can only use one hand! The team with the best-wrapped box in the fastest time wins.

Trivia and Brain Games

7. Holiday Movie Trivia

How well do your guests know their holiday films?

Prepare a list of trivia questions based on popular Christmas movies. Have one person ask the group the questions. The player with the most correct answers wins a prize.

This game taps into everyone’s knowledge of holiday films and encourages friendly competition.

8. Christmas Hot Potato

This is a holiday version of the classic “Hot Potato” game.

Play Christmas music while passing around a wrapped gift or small holiday-themed item. When the music stops, the player holding the item must answer a Christmas-related trivia question or complete a fun challenge. If they answer correctly, they can stay in the game, and the music starts again. The last player standing wins the game.

Collaborative and Sensory Games

9. Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Create a list of holiday-themed items or clues for players to find around the house or yard. The first person or team to collect all the items wins a prize.

It encourages exploration and teamwork and can be customized to different age groups. You can also make it more challenging with riddles or clues.

10. The Christmas Stocking Game

Fill a Christmas stocking with small items like toys, candy, and ornaments. Blindfold participants and let them into the stocking to guess what’s inside. The person who correctly guesses the most items wins this sensory and tactile game.

These Christmas party games appeal to all ages, encourage friendly competition, and bring laughter to your holiday celebrations. Whether you’re looking for an active game to get everyone moving, a creative challenge to spark teamwork or a nostalgic game with a festive twist, there’s something for every party!

So gather your family and friends, choose your favorite Christmas party games, and make this holiday season one to remember.

Happy holidays!
