We are so lucky to have beautiful surroundings in El Paso! Hiking is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the city & spend time as a family! Check out my 5 favorite Kid-Friendly Hikes in El Paso!

5 Kid-Friendly Hikes in El Paso:

Easy Kid-Friendly Hikes in El Paso:

  1. Lost Dog Trail- You can really make this hike any distance due to its out & back nature! The trailhead is easy to find & marked well right off of Northern Pass Drive on the West Side! Once going up a small hill right at the beginning, the trail is flat & easy to navigate with beautiful views of Transmountain & the state park!
  2. Tom Mays Nature Walk- .8 miles- This small loop is a perfect 1st hike for little ones if you want to check out the Franklin Mountains State Park! There are different plants with marked signs along the way & view are wonderful!
  3. Westside Community Park- .5-3 miles- This is another spot where you can make the hike as short or as long as you’d like! What I love about this spot is that you can add on the splash pad (summer months) or playground afterwards!
  4. Tom Mays Nature Walk

Moderate to Challenging Kid-Friendly Hikes in El Paso:

4. Aztec Caves- 1.5 Miles-This is a moderately challenging hike with some scrambling & a bit of an elevation gain. The cave at the end makes it a fun challenge for kids & the views of the city are wonderful!

5. Ron Coleman Trail-McKelligon Canyon- .75-1 mile- We went with a group of families and the kids had a blast scrambling up to this cave as well! I highly recommend this at sunset for the best views

*If going with a toddler, a carrier is highly recommended for when they need to take breaks! Pro Tip: Pack lots of snacks, be sure to hydrate & have sun protection!
