Reggio-inspired programming is recognized as a best practice in early childhood education – so we chose it at The J Center for Early Learning. The tremendous success of this educational philosophy has caused it to be emulated around the globe. We’ll share below some key benefits of this curriculum:
Emphasis on Collaboration and Communication
One of the hallmarks of Reggio-inspired education is the use of long-term, in-depth projects based on the children’s interests. These projects encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and respectful dialogue as the children work together to investigate, create, and present their findings. Our recent projects have included a study of our solar system, the physics involved in Olympic sports, and a deep dive into the science of gardening and composting.
Artistic Expression
Art is considered a powerful tool for communication and learning in Reggio-inspired schools. Children are encouraged to express themselves through art forms such as painting, sculpture, music, and drama. This develops their artistic skills and enhances their cognitive, emotional, and social development. At The J, a specialist teaches art, music, or yoga daily.
Environmental Awareness
Reggio-inspired schools have a learning environment that is visually appealing, well-organized, and equipped with natural materials. Our respect for the planet and the classroom environment is vital to our children’s experiences. Our students learn the skills needed to be independent and take care of themselves, but they also learn about caring for our community and planet.
Academic Success
Our Reggio-inspired curriculum nurtures our students’ creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration while developing their love of learning and setting a solid foundation for success in school and life. Thanks to our low student-to-teacher ratios, our students receive focused, personalized attention. We’re not the least expensive preschool, but the results speak for themselves. Our students excel wherever they go to school next.
